Inhaled Pain Medication involves using an inhaler that contains a drug called methoxyflurane, which is poured into the device. A piece of gauze inside soaks up the liquid and you inhale the vapours. These vapours are what provide pain relief following trauma or certain medical procedures.
Before Your Treatment
Provide a detailed and accurate medical history including medications, allergies , past reactions to anesthesia and previous aesthetic treatments/complications.
What To Expect At Your Treatment
Your provider will begin by taking your baseline blood pressure and will review medication use, expectations and instructions. The medication will be prepared within the pen and you will be encouraged to self-administer a loading dose of 4-6 inhalations prior to the start of your procedure. The medication has a pain control and anxiety relieving effect. From this point, you can use the pen as needed during and immediately following your procedure. It is important for you to report any dizziness sensations to your provider immediately.
After Your Treatment
Your blood pressure will be taken and you will slowly be raised to a sitting position. If there is no change in your blood pressure and you feel no dizzy symptoms, you are able to safely drive home
