Plexr Plus (or plasma soft surgery) is a non-surgical treatment to tighten loose skin. It is used for the following:
- Skin Tightening anywhere on the body
- Non-surgical upper and lower eyelid lift (blepharoplasty)
- Non-surgical rhinoplasty (nose slimming)
- Non-surgical labiaplasty (female genital labia reduction)
- Wrinkle treatment (crow’s feet, 11 lines, forehead lines, marionette lines, lip lines, smile lines, etc.)
- Acne and other scar reduction
- Skin lesion removal including moles, skin tags, keratoses, cherry angiomas, etc
There are three types of Plexr treatments that vary in the intensity of results and downtime. 1. Plexr Shower Non-Ablative Treatment
- Used for areas of the face or body without excess skin that require skin tightening
- Also known as a “glass facial” or “rockstar facial”
- This procedure is the equivalent of a microdermabrasion, microneedling and plasma therapy in one
- Since the plasma treatment opens micro channels in the skin, this treatment includes mesotherapy serum infusion and can also be paired with neuromodulators (for redness or crepey skin), soft dermal fillers (for fine lines and wrinkles) and/or exosomes (for skin rejuvenation) at an additional cost
- requires topical anesthesia only for highly sensitive areas such as the eyelids
- zero downtime but mild dryness may occur
2. Plexr Semi-Ablative Treatment or “Cat Scratching:
- Used for areas of the face or body with mild excess skin that require skin tightening
- This procedure is the equivalent of a microdermabrasion, microneedling and plasma therapy in one
- Since the plasma treatment opens micro channels in the skin, this treatment includes mesotherapy serum infusion and can also be paired with exosomes (for skin rejuvenation) at an additional cost
- requires topical anesthesia for all treated areas
- 3-5 days of mild scattered scabbing and irritation with moderate dryness and flaking
3. Plexr Ablative Treatment
-
- Used for areas of the face or body with excess skin that requires moderate skin tightening
- This procedure is considered ‘soft surgery,’ because it may achieve near surgical results in areas of mild to moderate loose skin but has a more intense downtime/recovery period as a result
- requires topical anesthesia for all treated areas and additional anesthesia/pain medication may be required for some patients
- 7 days of scabbing, dryness and flaking with another extended period of potential redness and skin irritation
Before Your Treatment
Provide a detailed and accurate medical history including medications, allergies and previous aesthetic treatments/complications.
Consider the aftercare instructions/downtime as well as timeline for expected results prior to scheduling your treatment. Do not undergo aesthetic treatments right before a vacation or special event.
Avoid tanning, hair removal, sunburn and active skin care ingredients such as retinol immediately prior to treatment.
Cancel your appointment if you are acutely ill or have a rash or cold sore in the treatment area. Those with a history of cold sores (Herpes Simplex 1) should take a course of antiviral medication in advance of procedures in the perioral area.
To reduce swelling after the procedure (especially if treating around the eyes), your provider may recommend you start an anti-histamine medication protocol several days before your treatment
If possible, please come to your appointment with your face make-up free and freshly washed. Remove contact lenses and wear glasses if necessary.
What To Expect At Your Treatment
Your provider will begin with ‘before’ photos and will review steps, expectations and instructions. Next, the treatment area will be numbed with a topical cream one hour before your appointment.
The Plexr pen will then be held near the skin in the treatment area, creating an electrical arc which will tighten the skin.
Immediately following treatment, you may experience redness, swelling, increased warmth/sunburn-like sensation and mild irritation. Semi-ablative and ablative Plexr procedures will create tiny scabs that will dry out and flake off in the recovery phase.
An in-person follow-up appointment will be scheduled at 2-4 weeks.
After your Plexr Ablative Treatment
Avoid touching and water to the treatment area for at least 2 days
Protect the skin from the sun with sunglasses, hat and clothing
Manage any discomfort or swelling with cold spoon application or by placing a clean ziplock bag with cool water on the skin
Continue to take anti-histamine medications for at least 2 days
Do not pick scabs and instead, allow them to loosen on their own
Resume wetting and washing the area gently on day 3 and dry with a clean towel
Re-apply tinted moisturizer on day 5. Once all scabs have exfoliated, re-apply 3-4 times daily for at least 30 days
